With a well-traveled background in the spirits industry, Gakuru's journey began in Kenya, then led him to England, and now finds him settled in Los Angeles.
Accumulating over two decades of invaluable experience in the global liquor sector, he has left his indelible mark on diverse roles and continents.
His journey began managing Lab Bar in London's upscale Soho district during the early days of the cocktail renaissance. In 2005, he became the Global Brand Ambassador for Sagatiba Cachaça, successfully elevating the brand's status worldwide over seven years.
Later, Gakuru spent six years with Think Spirits in Australia, driving the company to a Top 10 distributor with his expertise as the On-Premise Manager and Trade Marketing Manager, handling more than 35 premium spirit brands in their portfolio.
In 2017, he moved to the USA and thrived as the Director of Sales & Marketing at Sweet & Chilli USA. Finally, in 2020, he co-founded Coruscent Co. alongside Emily Wheldon, a venture focused on creating and building exceptional brands, and building lasting client relationships across North America.
